Child-like Greatness
Mat. 18:1-6
In response to the question – Who is the greatest? Jesus chooses a child, and Mark’s gospel (9:33-36) says He embraces the child and teaches the disciples what greatness looks like in the context of being:
Childlike – not childish – Mat. 18:3
Serving – not status – Mat. 18:4
Sons and Daughters – not subjects – Mat. 17:25-27
Jesus says Child-like greatness is:
Humility – does not push himself forward –
James 4:10.
Openness – the spontaneous and simple wonder of
innocence and pursuit – Mat 21:14-16.
Total Trust – never doubting they will be cared for by
someone else – Mat. 7:9-11.
Is average and mediocrity a kingdom value? NEVER
Greatness is excellence for Christ’s sake.
